The 1-pocket jacket is the definitive Helmut Lang denim garment. Introduced in 1998, it perfectly encapsulates Lang's minimalist approach, where luxury is achieved through streamlined yet conceptually rich designs with an emphasis on luxurious fabrics and precise cuts. Here, the classic 'trucker' jacket is masterfully reduced to its basic form: the typical front panels are absent in favour of a cleaner construction, while the multiple storage compartments give their place to a single chest pocket shaped like the back pockets of jeans. The result is a timelessly modern piece with an elegantly understated aesthetic.

The silhouette is narrow and fitted with defined shoulders, a tapered body and elongated sleeves. The jacket's sharp lines are given further substance by the heavyweight denim which has been subtly brushed, stained and washed for a vintage finish. While it has been treated for to emulate years of wear, the fabric maintains the rigid drape and substantial feeling of raw denim, which lend an almost sculptural quality to the strong cut. A chunky collar and waist tabs complete the design.

As it is to be expected of Helmut Lang denim jacket designs, the jacket features an abundance of thoughtful details. All hardware has a matte silver finish and is engraved with the Helmut Lang logo. Rivets are used to reinforce the edges of the chest pocket. Upon a closer inspection we can see that selected details such as the buttonholes are sewn with black instead of orange thread, complementing the well thought-out design. All seams are generally executed to a very high standard, and give an architectural precision to the jacket's construction. On the interior, precise flat-fell seams protect the jacket from undesirable fraying while making the jacket completely reversible.
